Malvern U12s – 20
Bromyard U12s - 5
A string of infringements made for an untidy first half as both sides worked hard to establish dominance.
Malvern looked likely to score first when they broke the deadlock and crossed the Bromyard line. They failed to ground the ball for the try and after knocking on from the 5-yard scrum the visitors took back the initiative and scored the first points.
Malvern piled on the pressure towards the end of the half and evened up the score with their first try after running at Bromyard from a quickly taken penalty.
The second half saw Malvern at their best as their forwards started to retain the ball at the breakdown and the running became more direct. Some excellent tackling, passing and overlapping play from the Malvern backs resulted in the first of a brace of tries for Dan Batty. This was followed by a great individual try from Ryan Williamson who ran the length of the pitch to score.
Malvern ended the game defending their lead but held Bromyard back with some resolute tackling. The final result was a good team victory to end the year with and perhaps an indicator for the second half of the season.
