Saturday is as simple as 3rd v 4th in the League for Doncaster Knights. A game of 80 minutes between two teams who have matched pace with each other all season. Nottingham have won their last seven games in a row, only 2 of those wins have been in away games as the majority of their recent games have been at Meadow Lane.
Top scorer for Nottingham is former Harlequins player Luke Sherrif. Luke has 10 tries for the Season making him an obvious danger man for the game on Saturday. Nottingham have had injury problems similar to Doncaster during this season and have welcomed Alex Corbisiero on loan from London Irish, the New York born Prop has represented England at Under 18 and 19 levels. Also arriving on loan from Leicester Tigers is Greig Tonks. Greig began his career with Newark and has representative honours for England at Under 16 and 18 levels.
Doncaster Knights could look to a First Team Debut for James Jones who has yet to feature since his loan move from Sale Sharks and a possible home debut for impressive Matt Cox who came on loan from Worcester. With Luke Gross making a return to full team action last week against Richmond the Knights and the likes of Jones and Van Vuuren available Lynn Howells has almost a full squad to select from. Mark Woodrow will be undergoing tests to prove his fitness meaning a selection headache for the Director of Rugby as Cerith Rees impressed against Richmond and proved himself match fit. Recent performances from Paul Bailey have seen him considered an automatic choice along with several other players almost picking themselves due to consistent performances. The likes of Glen Kenworthy and Spencer Davey have been the engine room Lynn Howells has put his faith in game after game this season, but as we have seen the Wily Welshman has no fear of changing a side to do a job in League or Cup.
The game at Meadow lane finished 34 to 40 points in the Knights favour, with a true Captain’s performace from injured Glen Wilson capping of an early season success for the Knights.
